This past weekend, we planned to take some much-needed time off to spend with our kiddos, who recently went back to school. The intention was to press pause on work, focus on family, and soak up the moments with them. But as life often does, it had other plans for us. Clients called, eager to see some homes, and before we knew it, we were packing up the teenagers and heading out for a day of house hunting.

We found ourselves in Arvada, Broomfield, and Erie - all places that hold their own charm and potential. Given that we were already up north, we decided to make a full day of it and visit family in Greeley after the showings. It turned out to be a perfect day, one that blurred the lines between work and personal life, a day where our clients welcomed our family into their journey, understanding the blend of life and work we navigate. They are expecting their first child, and there was something so pure and warm about turning our family day into a shared experience with them. It wasn’t our norm, but it was one of those moments where everything felt right.

As we wrapped up our last showing, I had a sudden flashback to my early 20s - a time when I would escape into the world of TV shows, like One Tree Hill. I was captivated by the characters and the way their lives unfolded on screen. One quote, in particular, has stayed with me over the years. In the final season of OTH, Nathan says, “It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re seventeen and planning for someday, and then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today, and that someday is yesterday, and this is your life.”

Those words hit me like a ton of bricks this weekend. I realized I’ve been living that “someday” I dreamed about for a while now. It’s surreal to think about how the dreams and plans I had as a young(er) woman have quietly become my reality. My “someday” arrived, and this IS my life.

For years, I dreamed of owning my own business, of having a career that was more than just a job - a lifestyle, really - one that seamlessly integrated into every aspect of my life. In my corporate career, I had a taste of that, but it was nothing compared to what I have now. Now, everything feels more authentic, more aligned with who I am and who Brad and I are together.

Today marks Brad and I's anniversary, and as I reflect on the past seven years, I am overwhelmed with pride and gratitude. We’ve built a life together that I once only dreamed about having. A life filled with love, with family, with incredible friends and clients who have become friends/family. And while it hasn’t always been easy - we’ve faced our share of struggles, moments of doubt, and times where the path ahead wasn’t entirely clear - what has always been certain is that we would face it all together.

There’s something beautifully bittersweet about reflecting on the past, about acknowledging the twists and turns that led us to this moment. It’s strange to feel a sense of melancholy when looking back, even as I sit here, so fulfilled and content with where we are now. Our story is far from complete. We have so many more goals and dreams to chase, but what fills my heart with the most joy is knowing we’ll chase them together.

It’s funny how our minds work, how certain memories resurface at just the right time, like a gentle nudge from our subconscious, urging us to pay attention. Those words from a TV show I watched as a young(er) woman have come full circle, succinctly describing my current state of life and mind. Maybe we need to lean into those memories more often, to recognize their significance and the lessons they carry. They’re reminders of how far we’ve come, how much we’ve grown, and how the dreams we once held close to our hearts have quietly, beautifully, become our reality.

As I sit here today, on our anniversary, reflecting on the life we’ve built, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. For the struggles that shaped us, for the love that sustains us, and for the dreams that brought us together. This is our life, our “someday,” and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
