"The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night's sleep." ~ E. Joseph Cossman
You know what nobody ever warned me about as a kid?
The absolute emotional rollercoaster that is buying pillows as an adult.
There was a time, not that long ago, when a pillow was a pillow. You flopped your head down and voila, mission accomplished. No "side-sleeper contour" or "cooling hybrid gel memory foam meets NASA engineering" nonsense. Just a basic rectangle of fluff.
Now, buying a pillow feels like making a lifestyle choice.
Are you a "hot sleeper"?
Do you prefer "low loft, medium firm, hypoallergenic, sustainable down alternative with bamboo weave"?
Do you need a pillow that also supports your shoulder blades, fosters emotional healing, and sings you to sleep in three-part harmony?
Apparently, yes. Yes, I do.
And here I am, sitting on the couch, 10:39 p.m., ferociously scrolling Amazon like my life depends on this decision.
I'm reading reviews like I'm they came straight from the Goldilocks:
"Too hard."
"Too soft."
"Smelled weird for three days, but then amazing!"
"Gave me life-altering sleep but ruined my marriage."
Excellent. Totally normal. Right!?
I opened seventeen tabs (on top of my normal 287). I watched pillow unboxing videos. I'm learning way more about pillow fill materials than any human should know - shredded memory foam, solid memory foam, down alternative, latex, buckwheat (!?).
Some pillows can change your life and pillows that will ruin it slowly, night after night, until you wake up bitter and questioning every decision you've ever made in life.
Adulting is HARD!
Anyway - if you have a pillow you actually LOVE (and preferably one that doesn't require a YouTube tutorial or a small business loan to enjoy), I'm all ears!
