Routine: The Key to Crushing It (Even When You "Don't Feel Like It")

I want to talk "routine" and why it matters. Routine = consistency, consistency = dedication and dedication leads to commitment, which builds loyalty.  See where I'm going here? For years, people have rolled their eyes at routine like it's some kind of soul-sucking trap. But honestly, consistency is THE game-changer!
 
Here is a peak at my morning routine. Every day, my alarm goes off at 5am. Do we hit snooze? You bet your behind we do a couple times (probably shouldn't, but let's be real here). By 5:55, we are awake and ready for the 5am Club call (yes, that math checks out due to time zones). That call kickstarts our day. After that, it is workout time and then breakfast - or breakfast and then a workout, depending entirely on my level of hangriness.
 
Then comes my favorite part: Brad and I sit down for our "coffee and conversation." Sometimes we talk work, sometimes personal, but always about the day's priorities and big to-dos. By 8am, it's time for my "Shanna & Shanna" meeting. This meeting is literally me and myself, and I tell you what it is the most important meeting of my day. This is where I get my sh*t together, focus up, and make sure my priorities are locked in for the day.
 
This routine is my secret weapon. It sets the tone for my entire day, EVERY day. Are there mornings when I don't feel like doing it? Of course! But skipping it would wreck my groove. It is like going to the gym - or, let's be honest, going to a social event. Getting there can feel like a chore, but once you're there, you're always glad you showed up.
 
Truly, if it is not on my calendar, it is not happening. So, block those calendars, Friends! Build a routine that fuels your productivity and your 'tude, and then build everything else around it. Leave some wiggle room for life (you know, meetings, kid stuff, a much-needed nap, a walk with your insanely high-energy dog who's driving you bananas, etc.).
