Real Estate Isn't Always Smooth Sailing - That's Why The RIGHT Team Matters

There were moments of stress, unexpected twists, and a few gut-wrenching near misses.

Some people come into your life as colleagues, but over time, they become much more than that. Susan and I go way back - through career shifts, life changes, and plenty of shared experiences. Sooo when she and her husband, Nathan, decided it was time to sell their long-time home in Columbus, OH, and move to their dream property outside the city - one with land, wildlife, and tranquility- I knew I needed to help make it happen.

Brutal Truth: Real estate is rarely seamless. These transactions didn't go 100% smoothly (newsflash - most don't). There were moments of stress, unexpected twists, and a few gut-wrenching near misses. However, at the end of the day, everything worked out exactly as it should. Why? Because the RIGHT team was in place.

Susan and Nathan found their dream home first - a perfect property that checked all their boxes. That's when I connected them with Jess, a top-tier local agent who I knew would have their backs. But then, their dream home went under contract with someone else.  Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. Thankfully, Jess wasn't just any agent - she was the RIGHT agent. She leveraged her expertise and strategic thinking to get them back into the buyer's seat, proving why experience and creative problem-solving matter so much in this industry.

Meanwhile, the timing of their home sale was less than ideal - Q4 is typically a slower season, and, of course, there were hiccups: a lockbox key issue, some last-minute loan shuffling, and the ever-present challenge of lining everything up perfectly. These are the moments when a great team makes all the difference. I stayed in constant communication, helping to manage expectations, provide reality checks, and keep everyone focused on the end goal.

One of the biggest lessons I learned is that as agents, we sometimes forget how foreign this process feels to most people. What we see every day - things that are normal to us - can feel like huge, terrifying red flags to our clients. That's why consistent, clear communication is everything! When emotions run high, knowledge and guidance are what bring people back to center.

In the end, Susan and Nathan sold their home and stepped into the next chapter of their lives with joy, relief, and excitement. I don't think I have to tell anybody this, but it's true that it's hard to see the true value of a great team when everything goes smoothly - when the path is easy, and things just seem to fall into place. Instead, it is when the pressure is on that their light shines the brightest.

This is why we care so much about the people in our sphere - our people. Those who trust us, and who we trust in return. I couldn't be prouder to have been a part of this journey with Suan, Nathan, and Jess. It took every person staying the course and believing in the outcome to reach success.
